The service buttons at the table made me feel like i was back in Japan! I am looking forward to return to try more on the menu. (: One of the more authentic Japanese restaurants in the NOVA area!
The place was pretty cool from interior to setup - I feel like it is a modern Japanese restaurant. The place is quite busy when we visited but we did not wait to be seated. The service was fast enough and while waiting we really had fun looking around with the details of this restaurant. The food was good and they have variety of options in the menu. We ordered their signature ramen - the broth was okay, decent enough but we think it could be richer with the flavor. I think one of the fun things here is you can get a free bowl of Ramen but you will not find out until you slurp everything out of your bowl as the note is at the bottom of the bowl.
We came, we saw and ate like 2 hungry hippos. Ordered the braised pork ramen, takoyakki, and a bunch of popular items to try. Service was great, quick and fast, parking was easy as well. Defintely will come back for more!
Considerations if you would like to sit in a honey comb: 1) call ahead to the restaurant and make a reservation 2) note that there is a party size limit as the combs are benches. This location is smaller than the one I went to Chicago but I was pleasantly surprised that the menu changed from what I had in Chicago. I don't know if it's chain wide changes due to season or location specific menues.
Super cute ramen spot with pleasing decor and atmosphere. When you first walk in, you will notice the unique honeycomb wall seating on the left. We were seated in private booths behind curtains. I loved this along with all their table settings. The staff was attentive and speedy. We ordered the appetizer sampler and it comes out plated so beautifully. We each ordered the ramen combo which comes with a Thai tea, a bao bun and a bowl of ramen. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu broth and it was delicious. It was so good that I realized I didn't take a picture of the ramen bowl before I ate! I slurped up every last bit of it. Highly recommended and I would definitely come back.
The ambience is so aesthetic just like their midtown nyc location! They have cute seating and I'm happy we manifested a pod experience! The service was really wonderful considering we came 10 min before kitchen closed (sorry but thank you for feeding us!!!) The food was very delicious! The combo came with ramen, a pork bun, and a dessert !! The rice burger was very different but still we attempted to eat it like a burger, still very crunchy and delicious. The fries were filling so we took most of it home. The matcha pudding was an experience in its own, very good! I'd definitely recommend!!!
Had a chance to visit Kyuramen with my wife for a weekday dinner one night. Relatively new restaurant with a very interesting interior design. The menu seemed relatively straightforward and had your classic options. The bowls were pretty decent. I think if you're in the market for ramen and pretty close by, this is a good option. Wouldn't call it the best ramen in the region but definitely pretty good. My only qualm was the broth was a bit salty and the curry was too thick. Overall though don't mind it and will probably be back to try out the other Bowls at some point.
With all the hype surrounding Kyuramen, a friend and I had to pay a visit and ty the food ourselves. The Food: I went with the "Black Garlic Tokyo Tonkotsu Shouyu Ramen" as my main. Also ordered some "Popcorn Chicken" and "Takoyaki" for sides. To start, the sides were good. The chicken was fried nicely and tender. The Takoyaki were generously portioned and had a decent amount of octopus in there. For the main, the ramen was delicious. The broth was flavorful, creamy and rich. The only downside of it was that the chashu was so thin, so I had to order extra to get my chashu cravings done. Wish it was a little thicker of a cut. But overall a good bowl of ramen. The Service: Service was good. The staff were fairly attentive with our table, even with us being seated at the special upstairs cubed areas. Overall a good service. The Atmosphere: The restaurant was decorated very nicely. The place was nice and clean, with a modern aesthetic that is just Instagrammable. Although, definitely recommend getting there early or making reservations as it can be quite busy during peak hours Overall, a 4/5. Ramen is delicious, sides are good and the whole atmosphere is incredibly nice. Would definitely recommend checking out Kyuramen if you get the chance.
Featured: 1) Omurice with curry glaze 2) Okonomiyaki I really liked the Thai iced tea! And the number two item I posted above. Those were extremely good. I was not a big fan of the number one item I posted above. I think this has to do with my personal preferences as I'm not a huge egg person. I will definitely try to come back and try their Ramen! Overall, the service was extremely good and the place was super cool . We got to sit in the honeycomb booth! I love that! I will definitely try to be back!!
These pics are from a while back when they first opened this location a few months ago, the hype and lines for Kyuramen was STRONG due to the DMV Foodies on social media promoting this place, and it still is! We got the following: Ika Geso Kara-age, Fried Squid Fried Potato Shrimp Tonkatsu Curry Ramen Classic Omurice with Demi Glace The Fried Squid and Fried Potato Shrimp appetizers were delicious: not overly greasy, really nice crispy textures on the batter, good flavors, presentation is also really nice especially on the potato shrimp! The Tonkatsu Curry Ramen is the most expensive ramen on the menu last I recall, and I definitely did enjoy it. Really good curry broth, the noodles were on the thicker side and had a nice chew to it, and the tonkatsu was tasty and still slightly crispy! The Omurice with Demi Glace is the main item that everyone takes photos of and posts on social media, definitely the most hyped up item, but how does it taste? In my opinion it was a bit overhyped, the demi-glace is light on flavor, and so is the rice itself. The presentation is definitely great, and the server cuts it open at the table which a great photo op for sure! Perhaps the curry sauce would've tasted better on the omurice than the demi-glace. Service was great, there's usually a line due to how popular the location is, but they seated us promptly when our table was ready, and the servers were attentive! The aesthetics of the place with their honeycomb frames around the seat and warm lighting is definitely iconic, it's great that we finally have a Kyuramen in the DMV!
